In an attempt to organize all my audio test recordings in one place, I've assembled this simple chart.

Test Method: I used the voice record feature of the Nokia 6230b phone, recorded directly to memory. I upload the files to Evoca.com, and the files are arranged below for quick access.

JOBY ZIVIO

This unique headset uses a telescoping boom to put the mic closer to the mouth. At this time, the folks at Joby and I are trying to determine why my outgoing voice level is inconsistent. However, without DSP noise reduction, the Zivio features natural sounding audio.

STREET BENCH TEST

This is what I call a "Street Bench" test. I tested several devices while sitting on a bench in front of my office building in Oakland, CA. The Phone Only recording is a Nokia 6230b (no hands free devices attached).

STREET DRIVING TESTS

HIGHWAY DRIVING TESTS

SPEAKERPHONE TESTS

If sticking something in your ear isn't your thing, you could use a speakerphone. There are many options out there, but are they any better than using the cell phone's built-in speakerphone, sitting on the dashboard? The Phone On The Dash recording is a Nokia 6230b sitting on the dashboard.

SPECIAL TESTS

This is where I put tests that just don't fit anywhere else.

etyBLU special test: Boom mic

Due to the design of the earpiece, the boom mic tends to sit naturally a few inches from my mouth. In these tests, I speak and push the mic closer to my mouth so you can hear the difference.
